What to Expect

Class times run from 8:30am to 5:30pm daily with some adjustments made for wind, weather, and tides. Each day will be a combination of classroom instruction and on-water training. Classes meet in the mornings at our classroom facility located in the Salt Water Realty Building (617 Lake Park Blvd. S. Carolina Beach) for approx 3 hours. There will be a lunch break around 11:30 each day, then we will regather at the Carolina Beach Yacht Club and Marina to board our 34 foot Tartan sailing vessel Juno for some fun on the water training. Expect to arrive back to the dock between 5-6pm each afternoon. Evenings are dedicated to self-study or relaxation, and students are free to venture into town for shoreside exploration, but please be ready for the next day's class!

The second day of class starts off the same, but there is a 100 question exam at the end of our morning session before lunch. Then it's off for more practice and training on Juno. At the successful completion of the course, your instructor will sign off your ASA Logbook as ASA 101 certified. Your official ASA certification sticker will be mailed to you from ASA to affix inside your logbook.
